Eight Royal Rangers joined the ranks of the Frontiersmen's Camping Fellowship recently by participating in Phase I testing and also Phase II - the Big Adventure. The testing, held on Friday, April 19th at Ranger Trails Camp, included setting up a model RR campsite and taking a written exam. All of those who tested passed and advanced to phase II which took place on Saturday. This involved taking the Blackpowder shooter's course and attending classes on a variety of frontiersmen subjects.
All of the new members will be officially "called out" at the annual District Royal Rangers PowWow on June 7-9, 2002 at Ranger Trails Camp.
The Big Adventure started with the candidates taking the NRA's Blackpowder Rife Shooter's Course. FCFers must have passed this course to participate in shooting competition at FCF events. Following the muzzelloader class, the new recruits went through various classes on the ways of the mountainman. These classes included primitive shelters, outfits, hawk and knife throwing, and flint and steel.
Welcome these new FCFers: Jeff "Turkey Spam" Johnson, Colby "Goat Catcher" Pepper, Corey McCerra, Jared Bow, Gary Harriston, Jr., and Don Wells.
