STONEWALL, MS - October 27, 2002
Jeremy Richardson has been around Royal Rangers since the day he was born. His dad, Kenny Richardson has served on the District Staff for many years. It is only natural that Jeremy has earned the highest award in Royal Rangers - the Gold Medal of Achievement. This award requires many years of hard work and dedication. Jeremy has earned all the advancement levels from Straight Arrows through Trailblazers as well as 42 advanced merits. He is a member of the Frontiersmen's Camping Fellowship. He becomes the 4,586th ranger nationwide to earn the GMA and the only 27th in Mississippi.
A GMA Court of Honor was held on October 27, 2002 at his church in Stonewall, MS. The evening's service began with the color guard entering from the rear of the sanctuary followed by the ranger leaders and boys. The family and district Royal Ranger officials were seated on the platform. Deputy District Commander, Glenn Hodges was the master of ceremony. After a brief welcome, Section 7 Commander, Pete Manley, read a list of Jeremy's many accomplishments. Then several gave testimonies to honor Jeremy including Shannon Farmer, a commander from outpost 2, John Frasier, Section 7 Deputy Commander, Kelvin Dykes, Southern Division Commander, and Jeff Johnson, Section 12 Area Commander.
District Commander, Wesley Harmon, gave the GMA charge and presented the Gold Medal to Jeremy's mother, Nadine to pin on his uniform. The Gold and Silver Buffalo awards were pinned by Jeremy's grandparents Nathaniel and Willie Broadhead. Brother Broadhead was one of the first Royal Rangers Commanders in the state. Outpost 1 was the first outpost in the state.
Jeremy received many letters from various dignitaries such as Regional Coordinator, Jim Seagroves, District GMA Association Coordinator, Kenley Byrd, Stonewall's Mayor, A.D. Gilbert, Senator Trent Lott and President George W. Bush.
Following a prayer of dedication by Jeremy's pastor, Steven Bursey, District Commander, Harmon gave a message. He used the letters of Jeremy's name as an acronym to explain how Jeremy was able to reach this great height.
A reception was held following the service with many friends and family attending. A video message was given with a lot of comic relief. Congratulations Jeremy on a job well done!
