Charter Your Outpost
Chartering is the annual process of registering your outpost with your district and the national office. In Mississippi, this is done in November. Charter fees typically help support the Royal Rangers ministry in your district, and they also help support the national Royal Rangers ministry. Every boy and leader in Royal Rangers should charter each year.
The minimum requirements for chartering are:
- A minimum of 5 boys
- An Outpost Council that consists of at least three men
- A qualified commander for each age group, and if possible, one or more lieutenant commanders
- A registration fee for each boy and adult (including the Outpost Councilmen)
In return for the charter fees that you pay, you will receive the following benefits:
- The quarterly publication High Adventure for each boy who charters and the High Adventure Leader for each leader. This magazine contains a combination of stories and news reports geared to the boys. In addition, the High Adventure Leader contains information useful to you as a leader.
- Every chartered commander receives a copy of the Outpost Tracking Database CD, which will make record keeping in the outpost much easier for everyone.
- Every boy and leader will receive a Royal Rangers membership card, identifying you as a chartered member of Royal Rangers.
- Each outpost will receive a Royal Rangers charter certificate that can and should be framed and displayed in your church.
- An Outpost Number will be assigned to your group that will uniquely identify your outpost within your district. This number is worn on your uniform.
- In many districts, only chartered leaders and outposts are included on their mailing list for periodic information about forthcoming events.
- Only boys from chartered outposts are allowed to compete for Royal Ranger of the Year.
- Finally, you receive the satisfaction that you are doing the right thing in financially supporting the overall Royal Rangers ministry. Unfortunately, it takes money to run any ministry. Charter fees are a primary means of supporting this vital ministry at the national level.
