Second Annual District Pinewood Derby...
Don't Miss It!

All of the participants gather for the final championship heat at the 2001 Mississippi District Pinewood Derby.

The 2nd Annual District Pinewood Derby will be held on September 6-7 at Ranger Trails Camp.

The cost will be $5.00 per car entry. A person can enter up to 2 cars (at $5.00 each) but can only race 1 car. You can enter 1 car in the Best of Show category but it must also meet the racing specs. All cars will be judged for best design.

If you come on Friday evening, you can stay in the cabin for $10.00 per person. We must have a Hold Harmless Agreement on file for everyone staying at the camp. If you filled out one for PowWow you are ok. Registration will be from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. We will not register anyone after 9:00. After you register you will not be allowed to handle your car.

There will be a grill/concession stand open the entire time. You will be able to purchase burgers, drinks, hot dogs, breakfast, popcorn, etc.

Anybody will be able to participate in the District Derby as long as they at least participated in a sectional pinewood derby. Please note: It is not just for sectional winners.

We will be using the Boy Scout rules but we will accept GPH and Hobby Center cars provided they do not exceed 5 oz. and do not have special modifications. We will reserve the right to make sure a car does not give an unfair advantage to the builder. Please read the rules on our web site.

The following trophies will be up for grabs:

1st - 2nd - 3rd Place - Powder Puff (girls)
1st - 2nd - 3rd Place - Ranger Kids (k-3 grade - includes Buckaroo ages)
1st - 2nd - 3rd Place - Pioneers
1st - 2nd - 3rd Place - Trailblazers
1st - 2nd - 3rd Place - Challengers
1st - 2nd - 3rd Place - Overall
Best of Show

4th place winners will receive a ribbon
Other honorable mention ribbons will be given out
We will have a leaders race too but with no trophy (we will give some type of award though.)

Some sections include Powder Puff class (for girls). If they want to participate in the district it will be ok as long as they participated on the sectional level. However, they will not be able to stay overnight at the campground.
