The pond has been repaired at Ranger Trails Camp! The dam was cleared of trees and reinforced so that vehicles will eventually be able to drive on it.
The pond has been repaired at Ranger Trails Camp!
Commander Jason Lassitter and one of his employees, Stan Smith, from section 12, went to Ranger Trails Camp this past week-end and worked from can to can't to get our pond repaired. These guys really worked hard and got a lot done in a little bit of time. Jason hauled his bulldozer all the way up from the coast. He was able to work out a deal with a heavy equipment dealer in Jackson to be able to use a large track hoe for the week-end (no charge). With both of them working they were able to accomplish a lot. Here is a list of some of the other things they were able to do:
  • They cleared the hill looking down into the pond so we can keep it clean.
  • Took down the dead oak trees at old FCF village area.
  • Removed about six stumps and leveled the parking area.
  • Cleared around the swimming pool fence.
  • Removed trees and widened the driveway in front on the lodge by the rope swing.
  • Cleared area around the sewage treatment plant.
  • Leveled the area at the big field to create more room for large FCF events, parking, or camping.

I was able to be with them this week-end and thanked them continuously for what was being done. If you get the opportunity give Jason a call, drop him a letter, send him an e-mail, send up a smoke signal or holler real loud and let him know how much he is appreciated.

I feel like this four year old thorn in my side finally festered up and popped. What a relief!

I love it when a plan comes together!
